national geographic clip of post-wwii hawai’i + 2 chinese-american sistas; hella foliage; 1961 thunderbird advertisement; hand marbled paper from firenze; flamingos; 1994 map of sf (arboretum aka where some of my fondest childhood memories took place); origami instructions (pointing to the fractal nature of things, while also this folding/manipulation of bodies/cultures); mushrooms that not only remind me of this story my dad told me about trippin’ on magic shrooms in 1970s sf, but remind me of me - i often feel like i’m composting + processing toxicity, trauma, ancestral pasts + generating fertile soil for future generations; butterflies / moths are everywhere in my pieces not just because i came up on a huge book of butterflies, but also because in chinese + japanese cultures they represent ancestors floating by in the past. i also feel like i’m an ancestor.
